Join us May 1st for African Harvest: A celebration of food and farmers

Not only is 2014 the International Year of Family Farming, but May 1st  also marks 35 years since we sent out our very first script package. To celebrate, we’re hosting a special event that pays tribute to food and farmers. We hope you will join us in Ottawa on May 1st for African Harvest.

This fundraiser brings together Chef Jeff Crump, acclaimed author of Earth to Table and Executive Chef of the Landmark Group (which includes five restaurants and a 100-acre organic farm), and Chef Andrée Riffou of Ottawa’s C’est Bon Cooking. They will exhibit their culinary artistry at the event by combining secret ingredients into small plates with African flair.

Guests will enjoy live cooking demonstrations, delicious Africa-inspired food, a variety of local wine and beer, and a silent and live auction, with all proceeds from the evening going to support Farm Radio International’s work serving small-scale farmers over the airwaves. We hope that you will join us for a fun-filled, feel-good evening!

You can purchase tickets online through Eventbrite, by phone at 1-888-773-7717 and in person at Cardamom & Cloves spice shop at 440 Preston Street. The cost of a ticket is $75 (or $65.63 for groups of 8 or more), which includes four small plates and complimentary wine and beer.

If you’re unable to make it, please help to spread the word by sharing the Eventbrite listing with friends and family in the Ottawa area, or inviting people directly through Facebook. We appreciate your support as we work towards our goal of a sell-out event.
