Audio postcard: Making CHANGE happen in Ghana

Sylvie: Hello, my name is Sylvie Harrison and I am the Radio Broadcast Specialist.

Elizabeth: My name is Elizabeth Nadurille, and I am the Climate-Smart Agricultural Specialist.

Sylvie: We both work for Farm Radio International on the Climate Change Adaptation in Northern Ghana Enhanced, also known as the CHANGE project. This is the single largest grant ever afforded by CIDA [Canadian International Development Agency, now part of the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development] to a project based on climate change.

Elizabeth: The objective of the CHANGE project for Farm Radio International is to work closely with four new radio stations in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions of Ghana to develop high quality radio programs that provide farmers with information and knowledge related to climate change and climate-smart agricultural technologies. On July 18th of this year, Canadian Feed the Children, our major partner in this project, organized the official launch of the CHANGE project.

Sylvie: In this photo, you can see the overall ambiance of the launch of this very ambitious project. More than one hundred people were invited and the Regional Minister of Agriculture attended the ceremony. Canadian Feed the Children also had special guests from Canada: their financial manager, Anne, and regional African manager, Amboka.

Elizabeth: Ben Fiafor, the Ghana Country Coordinator for Farm Radio International, spoke on behalf of the organization. The celebration was crowned by beautiful traditional dancing and drumming, as well as an official unveiling of the CHANGE project banner.

Sylvie: The team worked very hard and it paid off. Guests were impressed and very enthusiastic about the work being done. It was a grand event, fitting for such a substantial and important project.

Best regards,

Sylvie and Elizabeth
