African Farm Radio Research Initiative (AFRRI)

Our Partners

International Advisory Committee

AFRRI is guided by an International Advisory Committee (IAC) in the design and implementation of the project. The Committee will be convened twice – once during the planning and design phase, again during the action research phase. During these meetings, the Committee will review project plans, intentions, findings, and questions and offer feedback, critiques, suggestions, and guidance to the project management team.

The input of Committee members will help the management team to ensure that the research project is asking the right questions, is being designed to answer these questions, follows sound ethical research principles, is able to properly analyze and draw conclusions from the research, and is able to disseminate the research results widely to the right audiences.

The IAC does not have decision-making authority and is not accountable for project results.

The Committee consists of 12 individuals, half of them from the countries within which AFRRI is being implemented. Members include:

The NACs will help ensure that the research reflects the relevant and appropriate needs of the communities where AFRRI is present. Individual NAC members will liaise with the AFRRI national staff from time to time based on the requirements of the Project and the interests and expertise of the individual members.

NAC membership will be individuals who are actively engaged in one or more of the following areas: farming and food security issues for smallholder farmers, action research, development communication and radio broadcasting and programming for rural households. Each county committee consists of 10-15 members, and include representatives from the following groups:

Ideally, these partners will have a firm understanding of the agriculture and food security priority issues and current agriculture technologies that are being used to address these issues in particular areas/regions of the country. They will be able to identify locally validated farming practices/technologies for promotion through radio. These key partners will be our knowledge partners in each participating country and could include one of the following:
